FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK

 Comrades All:

I would like to thank, you the members and delegates of Saskatchewan Command of the Royal Canadian Legion, for your support and confidence in me by electing me as your Provincial President. It is my intention, as it has always been, to represent, promote and to work in the best interests of our organization, to the best of my abilities.

I would also like to congratulate all the members who were elected to our Command Executive Council. We will share the duties of this Command and we are fortunate to have the guidance and experience from the best Provincial Command Staff in this country, to help us do so.

I would like to thank Moose Jaw Branch #59 for hosting a successful and enjoyable 46th Biennial Convention. Their planning, hard work, and hospitality did not go unnoticed. Our delegate numbers at this Convention were consistent to what we had two years ago in Nipawin and what is most significant is that 20% of our delegates were attending a Provincial Convention for the first time. Comrades, the interest and participation are still there!

I am fortunate to have had a number of fine mentors in the Royal Canadian Legion during my years of service to our organization. Good mentors not only introduce members to the why, how, and where of the RCL but they also foster future leadership. My goal is to address the importance of Leadership as it impacts the future of this Command from Branch level right up to Provincial level. A Leadership Seminar for Zone, District and Command Officers has previously been held, our Leadership Committee resurrected, and you can expect future Leadership seminars for our Branches that will address the Branch Offices and other timely items of importance.

As well, membership and communication cannot be unattended. You as members are our spokesmen/women for the organization at all times. Use that to our best advantage when the times are right. Communication has never been simpler. 99% of us are only a keyboard or phone call away.

By all accounts so far it appears that our Poppy Campaigns, Remembrance Day Services and poster and Literary Contests have again been very successful and well supported. I congratulate you all on your fine efforts.

Comrades, we have had a busy last two months, which have included our Convention, the Poppy Campaign and our Remembrance Services. Hopefully December will now see you some time for family and friends also. On behalf of Wendy and myself we wish you all a healthy, happy and active Holiday Season.

BRENT WIGNES

Provincial President
